January 2026 – In Doncaster East and the Isle of Axholme

Happy New Year everyone!

January has been a busy start to 2026, both here in the constituency and down in Westminster. As ever, my focus has been on listening, helping where I can, and making sure local voices are heard.

Out and about in the constituency

This month I held my first street stall in Warren Park, Bessacarr, taking time to speak directly with residents about the issues that matter to them. These conversations are invaluable, and I’ll be rolling street stalls out across the constituency over the coming months.

I also held my second community clean-up session in Dunsville, getting stuck in with local residents to help keep our towns and villages looking their best. Small actions like this make a real difference and show pride in our area.

On Doncaster Sheffield Airport, I submitted my DSA Resident Feedback Report to the new Chair of the Airport Consultative Committee. This was about making sure local concerns and experiences are properly represented as decisions are made about the airport’s future.

January also marked a personal milestone. I resolved my 7,000th piece of casework since being elected. Every case represents a real person needing support, and I’m proud of the work my team and I do to help residents navigate what can be very stressful situations.

In Parliament

In Westminster, I was delighted to welcome Rossington All Saints’ Secondary School as part of my Pitcher’s Parliament programme, giving pupils the chance to see Parliament first-hand and learn how our democracy works.

I also hosted a business panel with the Confederation of British Industry, bringing together businesses from across Yorkshire and the Humber to discuss growth, skills, and the challenges facing employers in our region.

In the Chamber, I raised the shocking delays faced by constituents trying to access basic audiology services at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. Too many people are waiting far too long for care they should be able to rely on.

In terms of voting, I voted to pass the Finance Bill, which will make a real difference locally by:

  • Lifting 2,740 children out of poverty through scrapping the two-child benefit cap

  • Cutting average energy bills by £150 from April

  • Delivering a £575 increase for 18,000 local pensioners from April

Casework highlights

My team and I closed 1,004 cases this month alone. Two that really stayed with me were:

  • Supporting a resident who faced homelessness following her father’s passing, helping her secure a new home in her local area

  • Helping a constituent regain his driving licence after losing it due to medical issues and is now back on the road and driving again

These are exactly the kinds of situations where having someone on your side can make all the difference.

If you need help with an issue, or think I might be able to support you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at lee.pitcher.mp@parliament.uk. My door is always open.
