Petition for More Frequent Rail Services at Hatfield, Thorne South, Crowle and Althorpe

As your local MP for Doncaster East and the Isle of Axholme, I’m proud to have recently secured an important timetable win for passengers using the Doncaster to Scunthorpe line — retiming services to allow smoother, safer connections at Doncaster station.

However, many constituents have rightly told me that while this is a welcome improvement, the core issue remains: the train service through our smaller stations — Hatfield & Stainforth, Thorne South, Crowle and Althorpe — simply isn’t frequent enough.

Currently, these vital local stations are only served by a handful of trains a day. This limits opportunity, cuts off access to jobs, education, leisure and healthcare — and risks undermining the long-term viability of the service.

I’m calling for a fair and achievable increase in service frequency. This would involve:

  • Ensuring a minimum of one train per hour through Hatfield, Thorne South, Crowle and Althorpe

  • Making better use of the Cleethorpes–Doncaster service, by scheduling it to stop at these stations every two hours — filling the gaps left by the Doncaster–Scunthorpe timetable that only stop at these stations every other hour

  • No need for extra trains or major infrastructure, just smarter scheduling and a fairer share of existing services

This proposal would double the frequency of services at these stations, improve connectivity across our area, and support long-term growth and sustainability.

If you agree that our communities deserve better, more reliable rail links, please sign this petition today — and help me make the case to Northern, TransPennine and the Department for Transport.
